Teen fatally shot while riding in vehicle on Near West Side

An 18-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday night while riding in a vehicle on the Near West Side.

Just after 11 p.m., the teen was riding as a passenger in a vehicle in the 2600 block of West Van Buren Street when someone fired several shots, Chicago police said.

He suffered five gunshot wounds throughout his body and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Donovan Mccarter, a resident of Maywood.

There is no in custody, according to police.
