Man fatally shot in Austin

A 22-year-old man was shot to death Friday morning in Austin on the West Side.

About 11:15 a.m., Timothy Murphy was in the 5600 block of West Madison Avenue when someone inside a vehicle fired shots, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Murphy was shot in the back and was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

An autopsy released Saturday declared his death a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

Area Four detectives are investigating.
