The United Center, long the home of the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks, will be an Election Day voting super site, city election authorities announced Thursday.

“We are proud to partner with the United Center to make voting even easier for Chicagoans on Election Day,” Marisel Hernandez, the chair of the Chicago Board of Elections, said in a statement. “We’re encouraging everyone to plan their vote — whether that’s by mail, early in person, or in person on Election Day — there are multiple options, and we hope Chicagoans will choose the option most convenient for them to vote.”

The center at 1901 W. Madison St. will be open to voters for the first time in the arena’s history from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, officials said.

Along with voting in person, those who choose to go to the arena can also return their vote by mail ballots or do same-day voter registration.

Safety guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will be in place at the United Center, meaning voters can expect to see polling stations 6 feet apart, as well as plexiglass dividers, hand sanitizer and masks for those who need them.
