Showtime’s “The Chi” — and its police storylines — is back for season four, according to a new trailer released Thursday.
The new season for the Showtime series, scheduled to debut at 8 p.m. May 23, aims to focus on relationships between the Black community and the police.

In season three, police storylines were eliminated in favor of actress Birgundi Baker’s accession into a prominent role as the face of missing and/or murdered Black women and girls often ignored by mainstream media and the police.
The trailer also highlights the main storylines from season three including the aftermath of Kiesha Williams’ (played by Baker) decision to keep the baby fathered by the man who kidnapped and assaulted her; how Emmett, a newlywed played by Jacob Latimore, deals with the consequences of having an affair with his business partner played by La La Anthony; and the recent mayoral election of Douda played by Curtiss Cook.
New additions to the cast include Chicago rapper/activist Vic Mensa, West Side native and rapper Da Brat, and Chicago native and “ATL” actor Jason Weaver, among others.
