Bears sign a LB as one of 6 roster moves

Larry Grant, a linebacker who played in 66 games over five seasons with the Rams and 49ers, will help fill the void left by an injured Lance Briggs.

The Bears announced the signing of Grant — who had 65 tackles, five sacks, four forced fumbles and five pass break-ups over 11 starts — as one of six roster moves on the team’s first day back from the bye week.

The Bears also added quarterback Jordan Palmer, who will serve as Josh McCown’s backup.

Tight end Steve Maneri and cornerback C.J. Wilson were waived, though Wilson was added to the practice squad after clearing. The Bears signed wide receiver Terrence Toliver to the practice squad and released wideout Ricardo Lockette. Toliver spent the preseason with the Bears, catching seven passes for 63 yards.
