Radio Waves: Nick Carr talks Kankakee River

Nick Carr talks the Kankakee River this afternoon on “Outside.”

Carr, owner of the Kankakee River Trading Post in Altorf, is making his second appearance on Outside. I find it fascinating in this day that a young guy dreams about opening a bait shop and does.

We do a sort of a yearly review of the Kankakee River, especially in his area around Kankakee River State Park.

His shop is a touch point for both fishermen and campers at the state park. That led to a fun story about a two-foot cricket.

“Outside” airs from 4:30-5 p.m. Mondays on WKCC-FM (91.1) in Kankakee. The rebroadcasts are at 8:30 a.m. on Saturdays.
