Comedy Central comes to Improv in Schaumburg for stand-up search

The Improv in Schaumburg is one of 26 clubs nationwide that’s set to take part in the lumpily titled “Up Next” A CC: Certified Talent Search. Sponsored by Comedy Central, the contest goes from September 3 to 23rd. Preliminary showcases in Schaumburg will be held September 11 and 18.

One comic from each club advances to four regional semi-final rounds in October. From that group, eight finalists will move on to the New York Comedy Festival’s “Comics to Watch” show November 6 at the famed club Carolines on Broadway. Those shows will be recorded and then aired on SiriusXM’s Comedy Central Radio several days afterward.

One grand prize winner cleans up with a Comedy Central college tour gig, a guest DJ shift on CC’s SiriusXM channel, $2,500 cash and the chance to appear on a future CC standup-special. His or her set will also appear on a digital release put out by Comedy Central Records.
