Bears offensive tackle Cory Brandon, who suffered ligament damage in his ankle and a fracture in his lower leg with about three minutes to go in Thursday night’s preseason finale, will have ankle surgery Wednesday.

He figures to sign an injury settlement with the Bears.

Brandon’s injury is not believed to be career-threatening. He could return to football activities in 12 weeks. The broken leg is expected to heal on its own.
