Sex offender arrested in Orland Park for not registering

(ORLAND PARK) A sex offender from Wisconsin was arrested in southwest suburban Orland Park after it was discovered he had been living there without registering.

Jonathan Rivera

Jonathan Rivera, 28, was involved in a domestic disturbance on April 6 in the 9800 block of El Cameno Lane, according to Orland Park police.

Officers performed a name check, which revealed he is a registered sex offender in Wisconsin. Rivera had been living in Orland Park since April 2013, but was not registered as a sex offender, according to a statement from police.

On April 14, he went to the department to register and was taken into custody, police said. When officers asked him why he did not register when he moved, he said he forgot.

Rivera was charged with one count of felony failure to register as a sex offender and ordered held on a $100,000 bond. He is next scheduled to appear in court May 6.
