A man was in critical condition after he jumped from the second floor of the Art Institute Wednesday afternoon.
The 34-year-old man jumped from the balcony of the Art Institute’s second-floor cafe at 12:37 p.m. and fell onto the first floor, near the museum’s Modern Wing section, according to police and a statement from the Art Institute.
He had been “behaving erratically” before jumping, the Art Institute said. A source said the incident may have been a suicide attempt.
The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, police said.
The museum was temporarily closed to visitors but was opened as of 4:45 p.m.
