Pedestrian hit, killed by vehicle in Park Forest

(PARK FOREST) A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle in south suburban Park Forest on Friday evening.

Albert Valdez, 53, was hit about 7 p.m. in the 100 block of 26th Street near Ash Street, according to a statement from Park Forest police.

Valdez, of the 0-100 block of East 21st Street in Chicago Heights, was taken to St. James Hospital and Health Care Centers, where he was pronounced dead at 7:35 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The driver stayed at the scene of the accident, and no charges or citations had been issued as of Saturday evening. Park Forest police are investigating along with the South Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team.
