Woman found dead near Vernon Hills park

A body was found near a Vernon Hills park on Friday morning, a day after a woman was reported missing in the north suburb.

The female body was found by officers on patrol near Century Park about 9:30 a.m., according to a statement from Vernon Hills police. The park is located north of Route 60 between Butterfield Road and Lakeview Parkway, according to the Vernon Hills Park District.

A Vernon Hills woman was reported missing by her family on Thursday night, but the body found in the park remained unidentified as of Saturday night, police said. No foul play is suspected.

The Lake County coroner’s office could not be reached for more details on Saturday.
