Man shot in leg on West Side

A man was shot in the leg late Saturday in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The 22-year-old was walking in the 6000 block of South Maplewood about 11:50 p.m. when someone walked up and fired shots, police said.

The man was shot in the leg and told police he walked to Mount Sinai Hospital, which is more than six miles away from where the shooting occurred. He is listed in good condition, police said.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
