Bank accounts of crooked dead Fox Lake cop remain frozen

A Lake County judge has set a hearing for Dec. 7 to determine if the wife of Fox Lake Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz — who staged his suicide to look like a murder after embezzling thousands of dollars from a police youth group he led — can get access to her checking and savings accounts, which remain frozen, the Daily Herald reports.

Lawyers from both sides were in court Friday for a status hearing.

Investigators moved to have the accounts frozen in early November, alleging that Gliniewicz and his wife, Melodie, “exerted unauthorized control” over funds belonging to the Fox Lake Explorer program.
