Twelve hurt in South Loop crash

A man and 11 children were injured in a crash involving a van and an SUV Tuesday morning in the South Loop near the Museum Campus.

The van was northbound in the 1300 block of South Lake Shore Drive at 9:25 am. when it was rear-ended by an SUV, according to Chicago Police and Fire Media Affairs.

The driver, a 51-year-old man, and 11 children were taken to hospital with minor injuries, according to police. They were taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital, Rush University Medical Center and Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to Fire Media.

The 41-year-old woman driving the SUV was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to police
