Two people were injured after a wrong way crash on the Dan Ryan Sunday afternoon.

At 4:10 p.m., a man was driving southbound on the northbound express lane of I-94 at 55th Street when he crashed into another car, according to the Illinois State Police.

The woman driving the other car suffered injuries to her lower extremities, and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where her condition was stabilized. The man suffered serious but non life threatening injuries and was taken to Stroger Hospital, police said.

The man may have been driving drunk, but that has not been confirmed, police said.

Police said a third car received minor property damage as a result of the crash.

Charges are pending against the wrong-way driver, police said.

Express lanes were closed as police investigated the crash, but all lanes have reopened at about 8:15 p.m., police said.
