Two children injured in Vernon Hills school bus crash

Two children were injured in a crash involving a school bus Friday morning in north suburban Vernon Hills.

The crash happened about 8 a.m. near Camden Place and Evergreen Drive, according to a statement from the Countryside Fire Protection District. Four children were on the bus at the time.

Hawthorn School District 73 Supt. Nick Brown said the bus was apparently hit by a car.

Two of the children were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with minor injuries, fire officials said. The other two continued to school on another bus.

There was minor damage to the rear of the bus after the crash, along with minor damage to the other vehicle, officials said. No other injuries were reported.

Vernon Hills police and representatives from Hawthorn School District 73 also assisted at the scene of the crash.
