Child welfare officials are investigating the death of a 1-year-old girl Tuesday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.

Naomi Lee was discovered unresponsive in the 3400 block of West Fulton Street, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

She was taken to Norwegian-American Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 9:37 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

DCFS is investigating allegations of neglect in connection with Naomi’s death, agency spokesman Andrew Flach said.

The agency has had prior contact with the family, Flach said, but he did not provide additional details.

An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday.
