State child welfare officials are investigating the Friday death of a 4-month-old boy in the South Side Calumet Heights neighborhood.

Tyren Thompson died at his home in the 1600 block of East 92nd Place at 8:04 a.m. Friday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

DCFS is investigating the boy’s mother for allegations of neglect, agency spokeswoman Veronica Resa said. The agency has not had prior contact with the family.

An autopsy Saturday did not rule on cause and manner of death, pending further studies.
