A 17-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting Tuesday night in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

The boy was walking about 10:10 p.m. in the 1700 block of West 49th Street when he heard gunfire and realized he’d been shot in the neck, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.

Area Central detectives were investigating.
