Security guard fires shot at reckless driver in Waukegan

A security guard for a north suburban apartment complex fired a shot Wednesday night at a reckless driver.

A car drove onto the apartment complex property in the 2400 block of Dugdale Road about 5:30 p.m., according to Waukegan police.

The building’s 24-hour armed security guards tried to stop the car, but the driver would not stop, police said. One of the security guards felt threatened and fired a shot at the vehicle.

The vehicle, described as a maroon Chevrolet Impala with two or three males inside, then drove away, police said.

The security guard is cooperating with investigators and was not charged, police said.
