Aquoness Cathery, 24, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:26 a.m. Thursday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the Park Manor neighborhood on the South Side.

An autopsy Thursday found Cathery died of multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

A weapon was recovered at the scene, police said. The officers were wearing their body cameras.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is conducting an investigation into the specifics of the incident and the police use of force, police said. The officers involved will be placed on routine administrative duties for a 30-day period.
