Colin Powell: The original hipster

Gen. Colin Powell was taking selfies before taking selfies was cool, you guys.

The former U.S. Secretary of State shared this 60-year-old photo in a “Throwback Thursday” post today on his Facebook page.

With it, Powell wrote, “Eat your heart out, Ellen.” That’s obviously a reference to Ellen’s celebrity-packed selfie-seen-round-the-world posted earlier this month during the Oscars. Lots of politicians since have jumped on the trend, including Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the four Republican candidates for Illinois governor.

The Chicago Bears have a pretty great one today, too, for all you sports fans.
