Americans are becoming increasingly alarmed concerning that the Islamic State terrorist group is a direct threat to the United States, a new CNN/ORC International poll shows.
Seven in 10 Americans say they believe ISIS has the ability to launch an attack against the U.S., the poll shows.
Of those polled, 76 percent favor air strikes against ISIS, while 62 percent are in favor of offering military aid to forces fighting against the terrorists group. Even more (83 percent) are in favor of giving humanitarian aid to people fleeing ISIS.
However, far fewer are in favor of placing soldiers on the ground in Syria and Iraq. Sixty-one percent are in favor of that move, while 38 percent oppose it.
President Barack Obama plans to lay out his strategy against ISIS on Wednesday, and the poll shows 8 in 10 Americans are in favor of Congress approving the use of military force.
