BOURBONNAIS — Bears guard Kyle Long did not wear a walking boot on his left leg when watching practice Saturday, and GM Ryan Pace confirmed his injury outlook was encouraging.

The three-time Pro Bowler, who strained his left calf Thursday, did not practice for the second straight day, but at one point showed quickness in skittering away from an oncoming play.

“You know how he is,” Pace said. “You’ve got to hold him back a little bit, but it’s positive on Kyle.”

The Bears signed offensive lineman Dan Buchholz late Friday for depth, Pace said, given Long’s injury and the fact guard Amini Silatolu started camp on the PUP list while recovering from ACL surgery.
