Bears name six to practice squad

The Bears officially added six players to their practice squad Sunday: cornerback De’Vante Bausby, tight end Ben Braunecker, receiver Daniel Braverman, linebacker John Timu, tackle Jason Weaver and running back Senorise Perry. In addition, former Cardinals quarterback Matt Barkley has changed his Twitter profile to reflect that he is a member of the Bears.

Braverman had been a standout at practice, but he struggled to bring that success into preseason games. He had six catches for 40 yards in four exhibition games. Braverman’s failures as a returner also stood out in the preseason.

Offensive lineman Jason Weaver, who can play guard or tackle, also will be signed to the practice squad, a source said.

All of the players that the Bears waived on Saturday cleared the pickup process.

Braunecker, a Harvard alum, never appeared in an exhibition game after suffering a high ankle sprain early in camp. Timu started for the Bears toward the end of last season.

ESPN first reported the Bears will Barkley, who was waived by the Cardinals on Saturday.

Barkley, a four-year starter in college at Southern California, was drafted by the Eagles in the fourth round of the 2013 draft.
