(ORLAND PARK) Police are investigating after a vehicle crashed head-on into a tree Sunday night in southwest suburban Orland Park, but the driver was not found.

The crash happened about 10:10 p.m. in the 14800 block of South 80th Avenue in unincorporated Orland Park, Cook County sheriff’s office spokeswoman Sophia Ansari said.

The 2013 Honda was traveling northbound, but did not stop when the road ended, striking a tree and rolling over, Ansari said.

A 37-year-old man was found unconscious nearby, Ansari said. Paramedics took him to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn with “minor injuries.”

However, the man later told sheriff’s police he was not the driver of the vehicle, Ansari said. No one else was found at the scene of the crash, and no one has been charged as of Wednesday morning, Ansari said.

The crash remains under investigation.
