WEEKEND GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2014 AND SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2014
On Saturday morning, the President will arrive in Brisbane, Australia. The arrival at Royal Australian Air Force Base Amberley is open press.
In Brisbane, the President will participate in a G20 leaders retreat and lunch. Both events at the Parliament House are closed press.
Following these meetings, the President will travel to the University of Queensland to deliver remarks and discuss U.S. leadership in Asia, especially on economic issues. The speech will provide an opportunity to reaffirm America’s commitment to the Asia Pacific rebalance and outline Asia policy priorities for the remainder of the President’s second term. The President’s remarks are open press.
In the afternoon, the President will attend a G20 Welcome Ceremony, participate in a G20 plenary session and take an official family photo. The Welcome Ceremony is closed press, and the plenary session and family photo will have limited travel pool coverage.
In the evening, the President will travel to the Gallery of Modern Art to attend a G20 reception, working dinner and cultural program. These events are closed press.
The President will remain overnight in Brisbane.
On Sunday, the President will hold a trilateral meeting with Prime Minister Tony Abbott of Australia and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan. There will be a travel pool spray at the top of the meeting.
Later in the morning, the President will participate in two G20 plenary sessions and a G20 working lunch. These meetings and the working lunch are closed press.
Afterward, the President will participate in a press conference before departing Brisbane en route Washington, DC.
The departure from Royal Australian Air Force Base Amberley Airport is open press, and the arrival at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, where Air Force One will refuel, will be covered by the travel pool. Schedule for the Week of November 17, 2014
On Monday, the President will attend meetings at the White House.
On Tuesday, the President will participate in an Ambassador Credentialing Ceremony in the Oval Office. At this event, the President will receive the credentials from foreign Ambassadors recently posted in Washington. The presentation of credentials is a traditional ceremony that marks the formal beginning of an Ambassador’s service in Washington.
On Wednesday, November 19, President Obama will host “ConnectED to the Future”, a conference with superintendents and other educators from across the country who are leading their schools and districts in the transition to digital learning.
On Thursday, the President will award a new class of recipients the National Medal of Science and National Medal of Technology and Innovation—our Nation’s highest honors for achievement and leadership in advancing the fields of science and technology.
On Friday, the President will attend meetings at the White House.
