Del Taco plans return to Chicago area

Del Taco expects to return to the Chicago area with at least eight restaurants beginning in the summer of 2016.

The Mexican quick-service chain based in Lake Forest, California, says it has signed a development agreement with The Tasty Group Chicago LLC.

“We’ve had strong interest from franchise candidates in this part of the country for some time, and we’ve found a solid development partner,” said Laura Tanaka, director of franchise development. “Backed by 50 years of excellence, Del Taco is eager to introduce the brand and unique menu offerings to our new guests in the Midwest.”

Del Taco has 550 restaurants in 16 states. The chain had a restaurant in Oak Lawn and another near Rockford but they closed in 2008 and 2007, respectively.
