DCFS investigating death of South Chicago Heights infant

(SOUTH CHICAGO HEIGHTS) State child welfare officials are investigating the family of a 7-month-old boy who died at his south suburban home Thursday morning.

Noah Paredes was pronounced dead at his family’s home in the 2700 block of Jackson Avenue in South Chicago Heights at 6:14 a.m., the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

An autopsy performed Friday was inconclusive pending further studies, authorities said.

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is investigating allegations of neglect against the boy’s parents, a spokeswoman said.

South Chicago Heights police could not immediately provide further details Friday.
