Given the popularity of “The Walking Dead,” there’s sure to be a lot of interest in the zombie series’ companion show that has a pilot being prepped at AMC. Actor Cliff Curtis (“Gang Related,” “Missing”) has won the male lead for the pilot for the show — currently untitled, but working under the code name “Cobalt.”

The new show will take place in the same time frame as “The Walking Dead” but will be in a different location. The storyline will focus on a divorced teacher (Curtis) who is a good guy, trying to help out everyone in his life. Already announced has been the casting of Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey, who will play the children of a female guidance counselor who works with Curtis’ character.
