THE SKINNY

Joliet West rallied to force overtime, then outscored Sandburg 10-6 in the extra session to take home a 77-73 overtime SouthWest Suburban Conference Blue Division road victory. The win puts the Tigers at 5-8 overall and 1-4 in the SWSC Blue. Sandburg dropped to 4-8, 1-3.

TURNING POINT

Joliet West’s Keith Sims hit a free throw with two seconds left in regulation, sending the game into overtime tied at 67-67.

THE STAR

Joliet West’s Jeff Washington scored eight of his team-high 19 points in the overtime. Sandburg’s Niko Cahue scored seemingly every which way, finishing with 32 points and 11 rebounds.  

BY THE NUMBERS

Allias Roberts-Burnett scored 10 of his 16 points in the third quarter, while Max Ahern added 12 points for the Tigers. Sandburg’s Niko Kogionis tallied 15 points before fouling out in the fourth quarter.
