THE SKINNY

The Mustangs (6-3, 6-0 West Suburban Gold) hit the trifecta by winning their conference outright, claiming the Rebel Cannon over rival Hinsdale South (4-5, 4-2) and securing their playoff bid Friday night in Downers Grove.

TURNING POINT

After a Hornets punt, senior Mustangs receiver Javon Turner broke three tackles and scored on an 81-yard reception on the first play of the drive to give the Mustangs a 14-0 lead with 8:32 left in the second quarter.

THE STAR

Senior running back Alec Arvanitakis was the offensive engine for the Mustangs from the second quarter on. He finished with 18 carries for 107 yards and two touchdowns. He also had one reception for nine yards for a receiving TD in the first quarter.

BY THE NUMBERS

Turner had six receptions for 114 yards and senior Le’Devin Smith had seven carries for 46 yards and a TD. Junior quarterback Jordan Skatch had two TD passes and went 10-of-16 passing for 145 yards.
