Tommy Mister guides St. Rita ground attack in rout

The Skinny

The Mustangs proved to be too strong for the Wolfpack as they ran their way to a 51-13 victory at Stagg Field at the University of Chicago.

Turning Point

Senior quarterback Tommy Mister started the scoring for the Mustangs, who scored on all five possessions in the first half, as he called his own number on an eight-yard score.

The Stars

Mister keyed the St. Rita offense as he rushed for 90 yards and three scores, and D.J. Miles added another 94 yards and a touchdown as the starters played just the first half after building a 30-0 halftime lead. Brendan McNally had 82 yards and a touchdown for St. Ignatius (1-6).

By The Numbers

Led by offensive linemen Matt Byrne, James Drenovsky, Mike Lurquin, Tom Schofield and Simon Flores, St. Rita (6-1) outrushed the Wolfpack 234-6 in the first half. The Mustangs finished the night with 352 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.

Quotable

“We’re playing as a strong unit right now, and we’ve formed a strong brotherhood.” – Byrne on the bond between the offensive linemen
