A Chicago Police officer was injured on the Far South Side early Saturday when a woman driving “at a high rate of speed” slammed into a squad car, causing a chain reaction crash, police said.
About 2:20 a.m., officers were responding to a call at 40 E. 107th Street when a 34-year-old woman driving westbound crashed into a squad car, which then crashed into another parked nearby, police said.
Three of the four officers at the scene were out of their vehicles, while the remaining officer was taken to MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island in good condition, police said.
The woman, who was driving a sedan, was taken to Roseland Community Hospital, also in good condition, police said.
The woman was charged with misdemeanor counts of DUI and reckless driving, as well as numerous traffic citations, police said.
