A man was shot in the head during an attempted robbery in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side Wednesday night.

About 8:35 p.m., the 31-year-old was in teh 5100 block of South Calumet when two males walked up and tried to rob him, police said. The man was then shot in the back of the head.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

The incident occurred about 3:40 p.m. near Minooka. The horse was successfully placed back into the trailer, and the highway reopened about 40 minutes later. No injuries were reported.
