Police warn of West Side armed robberies

Police are warning residents about three armed robberies reported this month on the West Side.

In each incident, three males approached victims from behind, displayed a handgun and stole purses, wallets and cellphones, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The robberies occurred:

— In the 3800 block of West Grenshaw about 8:45 p.m. on Jan. 14;

— In the 1100 block of South Independence about 8:10 a.m. on Jan. 20;

— In the 3800 block of West Flournoy about 6:10 p.m. on Jan. 20.

One of the suspects is described as an 18 to 19-year-old man standing about 5-foot-9 and weighing about 170 pounds, police said. The second is a 25-year-old man about 130 pounds.

The third is 16 to 19 years old, between 4-foot-9 and 5-foot-3, weighs 120 to 130 pounds and has dreadlocks, police said.
