Police are searching for two men who tried to lure a boy and a girl with candy Tuesday afternoon in the Irving Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.
About 3:15 p.m., an 8-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy were walking in the 3900 block of North Spaulding when a car with he two men inside drove up, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.
The passenger asked the children to come over to the car and said he would give them a ride home or anywhere they wish to go, police said.
When the children didn’t respond, the passenger offered them candy and it appeared like he was going to get out of the vehicle, police said. The children then ran home and the car drove away.
The passenger is described as a middle-aged Hispanic man with black hair, partially bad on top, and a mustache, police said. He had acne or freckles on his face and was wearing a beige jacket.
The driver is described as a middle-aged Hispanic man with black hair and a mustache, police said. He was wearing a black-colored hooded sweatshirt with a white t-shirt underneath, police said.
The vehicle was a dark green, older-model, four-door car with rust towards the rear and blue tape over one of the taillights, police said.
