A man was wounded in a drive-by shooting in west suburban La Grange Monday afternoon.

About 2:45 p.m., police received a call of a drive-by shooting near the intersection of Calendar and Washington avenues, according to a statement from the La Grange Police Department.

When officers arrived in the 50 block of Washington, they found a 22-year-old man shot in the lower abdomen. ”Numerous” people were standing in the street near the man, according to the statement.

He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where his condition had stabilized following surgery, the statement said.

Police do not believe the shooting was random and that the man was the intended target.

“There is no threat to members of our community,” the statement said.

Witnesses at the scene told police that they heard three or four gunshots and saw a gray-colored four-door Dodge vehicle drive north on Washington after the shooting, according to the statement.

La Grange police are asking anyone who may have information on the shooting to call their Investigations Division at (708) 579-2333.
