Police are cautioning businesses in the Irving Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side after two businesses on the same block were robbed at gunpoint in the last week.

Both robberies occurred in the 3300 block of North Milwaukee, according to an alert issued by Area North detectives. The first robbery occurred on Jan. 25 about 9:14 p.m., while the second was reported about 9:07 p.m. on Jan. 29.

In both cases, a male standing about 5-foot-7 and weighing about 170 pounds walked into a business, showed a chrome handgun and demanded money from the register, police said.

The suspect also had a white scarf covering his face, police said.
