Domestic incident prompts soft lockdown of Oak Brook school

A domestic incident prompted the soft lockdown of a middle school in west suburban Oak Brook on Tuesday.

At 9:10 a.m., officers responded to the incident in the 0-100 block of Chatham Lane and were told there might be an unwanted person in the home, a statement from Oak Brook police said.

Officers searched the home and surrounding area with the assistance of Woodridge and Willowbrook police canines because of the layout of the home, which has multiple areas where someone could hide, according to police. No one was found.

The search prompted a brief lockdown at Butler Junior High at 2801 York Rd., police said.

Officers have responded to “numerous” prior incidents at the home, according to the statement.

“There is no believed threat to the community,” police said.
