Former Illinois running back Pierre Thomas made more in one week than many people make in a year.

Thomas was waived by the 49ers Tuesday just a week after San Francisco signed him. For his one week of service, Thomas was paid 1/17th of the league minimum, which works out to $51,176.

The 30-year-old veteran, formerly of the New Orleans Saints, had four carries for 12 yards in the 49ers’ win over Atlanta on Sunday.

For those keeping score, that’s $12,794 per carry, or $4,265 per yard.

San Francisco signed Thomas following injuries to running backs Carlos Hyde and Reggie Bush.

In eight seasons with New Orleans, Thomas rushed for more than 2,600 yards and 12 touchdowns.
