Former Aurora school employee charged with sex crime involving minor

A former Aurora school employee has been charged with sexually assaulting a minor.

Jose Corona, 31, arrested Friday by the Aurora police, is charged with six felony counts of criminal sexual assault and a misdemeanor count of battery, according to the Kane County state’s attorney’s office.

Corona was an employee of East Aurora School District 131 when he had sexual contact with a victim under 18 years old several times between Aug. 15 and Nov. 12, according to prosecutors, who said the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services got a report Nov. 9 about an inappropriate relationship between Corona and the victim.

The Aurora man also made “inappropriate contact with a minor” sometime before Oct. 22, prosecutors said.

Corona was ordered held on a $100,000 bail Saturday.
