Robberies reported near Armour Square hotel

Police are warning residents of two related armed robberies near an Armour Square hotel that occurred in August and November.

The robberies occurred at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 12 in the 2600 block of South Federal Street and at 6:55 p.m. Nov. 1 in the 0-100 block of West 26th Street, according to a community alert from Chicago police.

In both of these incidents, three of four males hid under or near the train viaduct and approached guests as they retuned to their hotel. The teenagers engage with the victims while one held a gun and demanded a cellphone and wallet.

The suspects are described as black males between 11 and 20 years old, standing 5-foot-5 and weighing 135-to-155 pounds.
