A west suburban Aurora man has been charged with violating the terms of his sex offender registration.
Kendall County sheriff’s deputies conducted an address verification check for registered sex offender Joseph Williams, 51, in the 1000 block of U.S. 30 in Aurora on Oct. 5, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
During the check, deputies learned Williams failed to notify authorities about an address change within three days as required by Illinois law, according to the sheriff’s office. The Kendall County state’s attorney’s office approved a felony charge of failure to register as a sex offender against him Nov. 6.
The Illinois Sex Offender registry currently lists Williams’ home address in the 400 block of Echo Lane in Aurora.
Aurora police took Williams into custody Nov. 18, the sheriff’s office said. His bond was set at $10,000, and his next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 2.
