DuPage authorities searching for victim’s car in homicide investigation

DuPage County sheriff’s officers are searching for the car of a 27-year-old man found dead on the side of a west suburban road late Friday.

Enrique Hernandez Jr. was discovered about 11 p.m. at the intersection of Highlake and DuPage avenues in unincorporated West Chicago, according to sheriff’s office spokeswoman Dawn Domrose.

Hernandez, a West Chicago resident, was taken to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, where he was pronounced dead. He suffered a gunshot wound to the head, according to the DuPage County coroner’s office.

Police said Hernandez was a documented gang member who was targeted in an isolated attack. Investigators are trying to find his silver or gray 2007 Chevrolet Aveo, which has Illinois license plates R614016.

Anyone with information should call the sheriff’s office at (630) 407-2400.
