Man fatally shot while driving in Greater Grand Crossing

A 24-year-old man was shot to death in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side Friday evening.

At 7:43 p.m., Rashad Taylor was driving southbound in the 7000 block of South Calumet Avenue when two gunmen fired shots from a sidewalk, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was shot twice in the right ribcage and he was able to keep driving two blocks south, where he stopped and his passenger flagged down police.

Taylor, of the 8200 block of South Buffalo, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 9:08 p.m., authorities said.

Police said the man was a documented gang member and did not cooperate with investigators before he died.
