A man was critically wounded in a shooting in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side Monday evening.

About 5:22 p.m., the 40-year-old was outside in the 6600 block of West Fullerton when he was shot in the upper leg, police said.

He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood in critical condition, police said.

A police source said the man may have been shot during a narcotics transaction.
