A man was shot during an attempted robbery Monday night in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 35-year-old was in the 4200 block of West Van Buren at 10:40 p.m. when two males walked up, displayed a gun and tried to rob him, police said. One of them shot him in the upper right leg and they ran off without taking anything.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, according to police.
