A man died about four hours after a shooting in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood early Friday.

Christopher Williams, 31, was walking in the 7800 block of South Maryland about 1:30 a.m. when a male got out of an SUV and shot him several times, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Williams, of the 800 block of East 78th Street, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead at 5 a.m., authorities said.

An autopsy Saturday found he died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.
